Today the work, school, weather, and availability planets all aligned in such a way to allow us a short afternoon jaunt to Holland State Park with our visiting friends the Keiters.
Since they’ve been here Michigan has been digging in it’s heels with the warm fall weather and instead giving us the classic gray skies, cold temps and occasional rain that we remember (not liking) so well.
Exploring Home?
It’s hard to say much about the park - since I have lived 6-7 miles from it for most of my adult life.
I cruised cars here, learned to hacky-sack here, learned to appreciate the opposite sex here, and just in general spent many many hours here between the ages of 15 and 20.
Even post marriage and family the state park has been a favorite warm summer day destination with a top-down Jeep. We’d watch the sunset, stop for ice cream on the way home, and track beach sand everywhere from the Jeep to the shower.
Easier With Friends
Today was mainly to show the Keiters Lake Michigan and Big Red before we pull out of here on Saturday. The weather wasn’t awesome but it was warm and not windy.
The kids played frisbee and jumped on rocks while the adults walked out on the pier and took photos. I fooled around with shooting on manual some more.
I’m not quite to where I just “know” what settings to use but am at least reading the camera, choosing the settings and getting usable results.
