Grace Metalious is the writer of a famous 1956 novel titled ‘Peyton Place’. She was born on September 8th 1924.
‘Peyton Place’ quickly became a novel that teens loved. They would underline what they thought were the ‘good parts’ and then pass it on to a friend. ‘Peyton Place’ sold over 60,000 copies within the first ten days in print.
‘Peyton Place’ centers on a teenage girl named Allison, whose life deals with incest, abortion, adultery, lust, and murder, either personally or through conversations with her friends and family.
Three years after ‘Peyton Place’ dominated the ‘New York Times’ bestseller list, the author wrote a sequel, ‘Return to Peyton Place’.
Metalious’s novel has been created into both a movie and a TV series.
