This post is really just to get the rest of the Alcatraz photos posted. There are quite a few, and I should have probably narrowed them down to a smaller set, but there were just so many I liked (especially surprising since I had only brought my iPhone with us that day).
Oh - I did remove one photo. As we were riding on the ferry over to the island as soon as it looked like we might get a glimpse of Alcatraz itself from our seats (that we had gotten in line early to be able to choose), some rude late-comers walked over and stood between us and the rail to see. I figured if you are going to put your butt between me and the view I was waiting for, I could only take a photo of said butt and post it to my website.
Butt - I didn’t.
Can you imagine the price people would pay to live there with that view now?
I wonder if there is a type of structure you could even build there that would not break down against the elements? Plastic maybe? Every thing you look at on the island needs maintenance..paint, metal repair, replacement, something. I think it’s only because it was built as a fort is it still standing.
True. But also true, perhaps to a lesser extent, of much of the beachfront properties in the bay area.
