We try to not repeat experiences, but sometimes they bear repeating.
We were here about a year and a half ago. We liked the park and beach so much that when our route again took us through this area, MsBoyink checked and got 4 nights at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL.
Just to Look
The first night there we decided just to walk down to look at the beach. We didn’t change. We didn’t grab towels. It was just a walk.
We put our toes in.
The water splashed up a bit higher.
We put our shins in.
Another big wave struck.
The water was perfect. Just cool enough to refresh after a hot driving day.
The air temp was perfect - not hot but warm enough that coming out of the water didn’t chill.
Seize the Moment
We’re not always great at this.
We get practical.
The parent gene kicks in.
Those are your good clothes. You have a swimsuit back at the trailer - but by the time you go get it and change the sun will be down. We can come back tomorrow.
MsBoyink had the right idea this time. Clothes dry out. There is laundry on site. This moment may not come again.
She led the way, and within a few minutes we were all-in. We splashed in the waves and body-surfed the larger ones in.
She Was Right
It was best to seize the moment.
The following days the waves were much stronger. The temperature changed. It got muggy.
We are learning.
Another Seized Moment
While here I noticed a drip under the truck. At first I thought it was just the A/C dripping as usual, but after a day the puddle wasn’t dried up.
Checking into it, the truck radiator was leaking. And badly.
We got it into a shop for a new radiator the day we were scheduled to leave.
And we seized another moment while waiting for the repair to be completed.
I’ll tell that story in a couple of days.
