British Beatlemania

Editors Note: We're blogging through We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel.

‘The Beatles’ were a rock band that started out in 1962. They were based in Liverpool, England. The band consisted of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr (unarguably the best name ever). Although the band had other members before 1962, the four men that people know as The Beatles started in 1962. Their first television appearance was on an English magazine-style show called ‘Granada’.

I enjoy listening to the Beatles, and my favorite Beatles songs are ‘Hey Jude’ and ‘Day Tripper’.

The Beatles were only together for eight years. A TV show host once joked that he would give them 3,000 dollars if they got back together, but after some serious conversation, Lennon and McCartney decided not to.

During the time the Beatles were together, they performed over four hundred shows and recorded over three hundred songs. From the top hits of ‘Hey, Jude’ and ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ to the terribly confusing and stupid lyrics of ‘Glass Onion’ and ‘Wild Honey Pie’, the Beatles remain as one of the greatest bands of the 1900s.

Both Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr presently tour, while George Harrison and John Lennon have died. Lennon was assassinated by Mark Chapman.
