I can tell you about our visit. Mention the friends from Florida that we re-connected with here. Talk about the overpopulation of Willy-Wonka-ish squirrels with no apparent sense of fear. Mention that we experienced “The Hatch” of mosquitoes. Describe how the Juniper trees explode with pollen. Relate how we biked a portion of the Crater Lake Rim Road that was closed to vehicles yet so other than a few rangers, boat workers and the odd pair of hikers had the park to ourselves on a sunny Fathers Day Sunday.
But really?
Crater Lake is about blue.
True blue.
Blue so deep it’s inconceivable.
Blue that would deepen while you look away, and then amaze you when you look back at it.
I did my normal photo touchups with the images in this post - which amount to hitting the “enhance” button in iPhoto, maybe tweaking the saturation a bit, and adjusting the sharpness.
But make no mistake about it - Crater Lake is really that blue.
If you have ever dismissed Blue as boring, visit Crater Lake National Park in Oregon.
WOW—Beautiful pictures!! Looks like a great way to spend Father’s Day, although a tough bike ride!
Some amazing pictures.
Thanks David - it’s really hard to take a bad picture here. Every view is just as stunning as the last.
Thanks Marci!
