Maymont Park, Richmond

Here’s a Twitter-inspired trip!

I mentioned on Twitter that we were in the Richmond area, and Lani Pokrana (@lpokrana), a fellow nomad, suggested the Maymont Park as a nice daytrip.  We researched it a bit online and with an Italian Garden, Japanese Garden, wildlife exhibits, nature center, and mansion tours all available it sounded great.  It was also closer to where our upcoming ExpressionEngine class will be so we were able to combine a daytrip to the park with some reconnaissance around our class location.

I won’t give a full account here - suffice to say that this was a great stop with something for everyone including the shutterbug..;)

    Mike,

Thos are some awesome pictures. I really like the black and white ones. What kind of camera/lens are you using? How much post processing are you doing? Glad to see you guys enjoying your year trekking around the country.

Sean- these are all from a Nikon D40. Post-processing is all irfanview where all I do is bump the saturation, contrast and sharpness. I dont have a lot of patience for editing images so spend maybe 20-30 seconds each.

    Lani-thanks again for the recommedation.

Oh-forgot. Most posts on the site also have the odd IPhone 4 pic and I also have a Canon p&s along as well. The canon isn’t getting used much however.
