Hear that tinkling sound off in the distance?
Those are the coins disappearing from our bank account because we have arrived in one of the more expensive stops in our travels - San Francisco.
I suppose we can’t complain too hard because we are seeing complaints from back home of $4+ per gallon gas and that’s still about what it costs here, but overall between this RV park and groceries and other expenses we’d be challenged to stay here much longer than we are.
Actually - we extended our stay because we were contacted for some possible work by a Grand Haven, MI native who didn’t know we travel full-time and thought she was going to be able to talk to us on a visit back home in West Michigan. We had to tell her we’d just show up at her office in San Francisco instead. Funny world sometimes.
We are in the home stretch of some major heads-down revision work on our book so haven’t had much outdoor time in the last few days. It’s a beautiful day out so I had MsBoyink look for a place to go for a couple hours. Mori Point is just a few miles south of our RV park so we went over for an afternoon walk. It’s a pretty little spot with a bit of liquor-smuggling history to boot(leg).
We also noticed people picking stuff off the ground and….eating it? Not sure if we were seeing desperate homeless people or this was a special California diet we investigated closer and found..wild strawberries. Coastal Strawberries, as it turns out. While small, they pack the most amazing amount of sweetness and flavor - better than just about any other strawberry I’ve had.
Nice day, free fruit snack, and some great pictures. What more to ask for?
