We’re doing a small series on state parks in Texas.
Overview
Mother Neff State Park is located in Moody, along the Leon river. The park offers:
- 20 Campsites with full hookups
- Hiking trails
- Good AT&T and Verizon coverage
What We Liked
This campground was renovated in January 2015. The full hook-ups sites have a concrete RV pad, a stone patio area, and a large stone area to the rear containing a picnic table and fire ring. The sites were very spacious and tidy.
Just like the other Texas state parks, check-out wasn’t until 2:00pm. We didn’t pull out until the one o’clock hour since we knew we’d be overnighting on the road.
Moody is close enough to Waco, TX for a late afternoon drive. We caught dinner at In-N-Out Burger (Miranda’s been asking for an In-N-Out burger since we arrived in the San Antonio area last December). We also found replacement Keen sandals for “the girls” and picked up some groceries.
The best part about the park was the quiet. Well, there were a few times we heard, and felt, the rocket testing going on at the SpaceX facility. Otherwise, it was a very peaceful park.
