We settled into our summer spot last week and most of the days since have been full of rain. I am so grateful, though, that the rain held off for most of the weekend so we could celebrate with our Mothers.
On Saturday our family drove down to Kalamazoo, stopping on the way to pick up a large bucket of chicken and the fixin’s from Chicken Coop (My niece took care of dessert—yummy cupcakes!). We met my parents and my sister’s family at Markin Glen, a county park that we’ve camped at in the past due to its nearness to my parents. The day was mostly sunny and warm (70*s). It was a great day of reconnecting and celebrating Mom.
On Sunday we made the drive to our neighboring town, Newaygo, to spend time with Mike’s parents. The original forecast for the day called for rain, so I prepared stuffed shells and other foods that wouldn’t require Mike to stand outdoors at the grill. Thankfully, the rain held off until that evening and we were able to enjoy time outdoors, catching up. Mike was even able to man the grill and roast up some veggies to accompany our meal (This time Miranda took care of dessert, making peanut butter bars using Mike’s Grandma’s recipe).
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom A and Mom B.
