Ode to a Truck

Is it odd to get sentimental over a vehicle?

I wanted to update the photos of our truck detail page here on the site. I got carried away and ended up putting a short video together with all the photos I have of it around the USA.

I’ve said it many times - this wasn’t the truck I wanted, but it was the one we could afford. It’s ended up being the best vehicle I’ve owned. We’ve put over 80K miles on it and that’s mostly towing our fifth wheel trailer.

National Parks. State parks. Cities. The odd backroad. Hauling posessions to Goodwill when we downsized. Hauling tree trimmings on a Texas ranch. It’s been knocked off the road, fallen off a mechanic’s lift and keeps coming back for more.

Here’s a quick taste of the Ditching Suburbia adventuremobile across the USA:

Is it odd to get sentimental over a vehicle?  I hope not.  I cried the day we sold my Honda Element (it should be noted that I didn’t cry at our wedding).

    Good..it’s not just me..;)

It’s funny - I sold off a Jeep I had spent >5 years working on. I was less sentimental about that than this truck.

I think it’s because the truck has been the basis for more family time and memories.
